Have you ever considered taking your education beyond your home institution, beyond the conventional class seats of the modern Vertical Campus edifice? Imagine navigating your interests through various courses, engrossed in a culture you were never able to closely inspect throughout the diversity of our City. Consider the enlightenment of a study abroad experience, for all it has to offer, even beyond the intellectual gain. The Study Abroad Fair is here to help students reach that level, if they so choose.
Study abroad has long been considered an important aspect of higher education. There is no limit to how your academic study can benefit through discovery in another setting and exploring your interests through another lens. Learning in a different institution could become a valuable tool to those interested in expanding their linguistic abilities, not to mention broadening their cultural horizons. Whether you travel for a month or a whole semester, you are bound to sample the culture through daily exposure to native, communal residence.
While the primary purpose of your trip is for an enriched academic study, you can use your time wisely to explore nearby cities, even neighboring countries. By planning weekend excursions in advance, you could experience an extremely productive month in your academic career. Before you know it, you could be hopping from cities to countries, (and it better be with your course textbooks at hand - after all, your primary goal is to obtain credit and do successfully in the course).
While various programs offer different benefits, you may want to opt for one that is headed by a CUNY school. Receiving credit and determining equivalency measures is easily done when the program is linked to your home CUNY institution. There is also the convenience of the close proximity which helps with paperwork and such.
The Study Abroad Office is hosting a Study Abroad Fair on Thursday, February 16 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. in VC 14-250. Representatives from CUNY, SUNY, and other Study Abroad providers will be available to help you learn more about their different Study Abroad programs and how you can spend a semester, a year, the January intersession or a summer studying at a university or similar educational institution in another country.
